CALENDAR & SCHEDULES
American Language Academy offers a variety of courses and specially-designed programs to meet your English Language needs. We offer shorter,
less intensive English training designed for students, professionals, business professionals, and others visiting on tourist visas.
1. Academic English (AE) is designed for serious students. The ALA approach is highly interactive and includes student-designed projects that take
you into the community, as well as a specialized reading and writing program unique to ALA. After completing level five, you will be ready for college admission (you must also meet all other college admission required criteria). Upon enrollment in ALA’s Academic English program, you will receive a Conditional Letter of Acceptance (CLA) to one of our partner colleges. (Not all partners provide conditional admission to graduate programs.) With this acceptance letter, there is a possibility that the TOEFL score requirement will be waived . Upon graduating from Level 5, you will have met or exceeded all the language elements tested by TOEFL and will be
ready for study at a U.S. college/university. Our graduates are well regarded and very well prepared to successfully complete their degrees.
Full-time students (F-1 visa) will have coursework that requires a minimum of twenty-two (22) hours per week of instruction. This includes eighteen (18) hours per week in the leveled intensive English course of instruction and (4) hours per week in Extended Study. Students are also encouraged to participate in English speaking conversation groups and partners outside of class schedules and spend at least two (2) hours each day studying outside of the classroom.
Full time (AE) students are required to attend a minimum of 85% of classes. Students not meeting this attendance policy could jeopardize their active student F1 visa status.
2. Short Sessions, Summer Camps, & Workshops/Seminars
Part-time students (B2) enrolled in shorter, non-intensive courses have fewer hours of instruction per week.
ALA can arrange sessions for groups of five (5) or more students. Non F1 students can enroll for shorter
designed course sessions and/or attend on full-time or part-time basis depending on their language goals.
We can also provide tours and excursions to American cities, colleges, and recreational attractions as
cultural learning experiences. Contact ALA’s Admissions Office if you are interested or have specific
questions on arranging course schedules.
