American Language Academy is proud to present some of our students!

Beatriz Franca
Sao Paulo, Brazil
"I needed to find some program to improve my grammar. It’s still a challenge for me. I found the American Language Academy through Guilford Technical Community College. It’s a lot of hours so you learn a lot of things. The classes are divided into speech and writing. This is good. When I write, I still have a lot of mistakes so I need to practice. In class, we have to talk a lot and I like that. We talk about different cultures and what my country has and what another culture has. Now we are working on a speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. I had to do an oral presentation which was nice because I could talk in public. The teachers are fun and they are very patient."

to study at the American Language Academy. ALA has well-organized, intensive classes, including reading, writing, and communication skills. ALA truly provides
useful and excellent methods to help students sharpen their English skills. ALA also has outstanding and very professional teachers. They concentrate on their students´ individual needs and help us improve our speaking, listening, reading, and writing. They create an open, friendly, and supportive atmosphere in class among students from different parts of the world. In addition,

I always knew that I would study in the United States, because it is the best place to learn the English language. My father works for the United Nations, and his colleague spoke highly of this school. So, my father and I decided that I would come here.I am living in Greensboro with my father’s wife. My experience in Greensboro has been pleasant. The school is very friendly and warm and now feels like a second family. I am fortunate enough to have two wonderful teachers. I only have a short time left because I have to return to my country. But if I am able,
I will come back to finish the rest of the levels. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is able to come
to ALA to have this important experience, to learn the life, culture and language of the United States."

and I’m from Venezuela. I have been studying here
for three terms and I can tell how much my English has improved compared to when I started at ALA.ALA is a great place to be and to learn English. They teach you English, but they also have so many different ways to
give you the experience of English by going on trips
and activities that provide you skills like grammar,
speaking and the knowledge of English. The people
at this academy are friendly and helpful. They guide
your progress. For those who want to go to college,
like me, they have partnerships with different college
and universities."

Mohamed Abdelaaty Abouassar
Alexandria, Egypt
"Hi, this is Mohamed. I am from Alexandria, Egypt. A friend told me about ALA. When I first came to the United States from Egypt, I thought my English was very good. I studied
a lot. But the teacher taught in Arabic and I didn’t have contact with Americans. I was surprised when I came here. I couldn’t speak English! People couldn’t understand me.
I couldn’t book a ticket at JFK. I had to bring a friend with me to the DMV or to the ALA Admissions office. I couldn’t get what I wanted done. Everyone used to complain,
“I can’t understand that.”Now people can understand me. They don’t complain anymore. ALA helped me by giving me a chance to improve my listening and that helped my speaking. My teachers are good at ALA, very friendly. One thing I like is that everything is in English. The classes are fun. My teacher, John, is fun when he teaches us and we laugh so much. Now I can speak English."

at the local community college. But I really want to
go to college, so I decided to come to the American Language Academy for its academic preparation. I
have to commute 40 minutes one way to the Academy from my home in Eden, North Carolina. I’ve learned a
lot here; some things we studied were punctuation, grammar, paraphrasing, research papers with proper citation and plagiarism. My favorite class was Listening
and Speaking. When I finish here, I want to go to Guilford Technical Community College or Guilford College to study business or health care administration. I want to help people and help the Latino community in North Carolina.

is the best school. I see a big difference; ALA is more individual and academic. Our teachers are very good because they give good explanations and they care about every student. I like our new classrooms, too, because they’re new and bright and have big windows. Also, the location is very good, very central in Greensboro.I like feng shui, sewing, cooking and making jewelry based on zodiac signs.
